A Place for Us Promo – Walking Dead

Notes: This spot was written to promote the Walking Dead on AMC for Loyalkaspar, a NYC-based agency.

This spot depicts a man running for his life in a world gone mad. Then he takes a stand. The style of this spot is graphic collage- the technique will involve rotoscoping live action and layering on plenty of grit, blood splatters, blighted landscapes, and ghoulish expressions of zombies.

A Place for Us

Video Audio
Rick Grimes walks from the deep distance. As he gets closer to the camera he changes from wearing hospital robes to his character’s soiled jeans and button down shirts.

He catches the camera and walks into a close-up.

In close-up VO- Rick Grimes: Maybe you people are better off without me. Go ahead…
The camera pulls away and Rick must run after it as zombies encroach from all sides.

Rick shoots, stabs, cuts in half hordes of zombies as he struggles to keep up with the camera.

Rick kills all the zombies that came at him. He walks up into a medium shot.

VO- Rick Grimes: (cont.) I say there’s a place for us, but maybe it’s just another pipe dream, maybe I’m fooling myself again. Why don’t you go find out yourself? Send me a postcard! Go on, there’s the door. You can do better, let’s see how far you get,”
Rick turns to look at the destruction he has wrought.

Over the line, “no takers”

the camera does a 180 dolly to see Rick now standing in front of the rest of the cast.

VO- Rick Grimes: No takers?

Fine, but get one thing straight. If you’re staying, this isn’t a democracy anymore.
